Easter Sunday is a movable feast calculated using the Computus algorithm. It falls on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox (March 21). Our calendar uses this precise calculation to show the exact date for Easter and all related Christian holidays like Good Friday, Palm Sunday, and Pentecost.
Easter is calculated using the Computus algorithm developed in the 6th century. It finds the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon (first full moon on or after March 21). This means Easter can fall anywhere between March 22 and April 25. Our tool calculates this automatically for any year.
Lent is a 40-day period of prayer, fasting, and repentance before Easter (not counting Sundays). It begins on Ash Wednesday, which is 46 days before Easter Sunday. Our calendar shows the countdown to Ash Wednesday and displays all dates in the Lenten season including Palm Sunday and Good Friday.
